About the organisation

Symbio is a Bangalore-based pharmaceutical company that makes APIs, enzymes and pre-formulations. Founded in 2011, we now supply 40+ molecules to customers in 45+ countries.

Our work runs from a central R&D centre in Jigani, Bangalore, to three manufacturing facilities in Dobbespet, Tumkur and Vizag. Our quality standards include WHO-GMP, ANVISA and CEP approvals, and we were named API Company of the Year at the ET Healthworld RE Pharma Awards 2024.

Symbio is a private limited company backed by Ascent Capital. We are a fast-growing, mid-sized team, and people here get hands-on exposure to real work early on.

Symbio began in 2011 in an apartment in Bangalore, built by first-generation entrepreneurs who stayed close to customers and the pharmaceutical supply gaps they faced.

Founded by Salim Shaikh, Founder & Chairman, and Abhijit Kale, Co-Founder & Director, and soon joined by Akash Puranik, Promoter, Managing Director & CEO. From that apartment to three manufacturing facilities and a central R&D centre, their story shows what ownership and staying close to the work can build.

Do I need API or pharma experience?

For most roles, yes. Analytical R&D roles ask for an M.Sc with HPLC and GC experience, Process Engineers for a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering with API scale-up experience, and Quality Control roles for a B.Sc, M.Sc, B.Pharm or M.Pharm with experience in API pharma.
